My First PrePoo!!!!

I've been tinkering with delving into natural hair care products for a few weeks and finally decided to take a leap and try making the switch.

Continue with my delve into Naturalista Heaven after the jump!

Step One:  Selecting my wash day~~  I think I'm set with Sunday.  Generally off work around 4/5 which gives me time to get home whip up some prepoo goodness(if not already done) and gives me the 2 hours I need to relax and let my hair get some love.

Step Two:  Finding my oils.  EVOO, Coconut oil, Jojoba oil, Almond oil, Avocado oil, etc etc etc The list is never ending.  Doing some google research to narrow down the selection led to me finding even more intriguing ideas.  So far I'm on Coconut, almond and of course EVOO(extra virgin olive oil).  Jojoba is looking like next on the list hmmm or maybe sunflower oil???

Step Three:  Mix up some Pre-poo....for those saying "Pre what?" prepooing is basically deep conditioning your hair BEFORE shampooing.  That way the shampoo doesn't completely strip all the loving nutrients from your hair.  This first round I went for a combination of sorts.

  • About a tablespoon of coconut oil
  • A tablespoon of olive oil
  • 4-10 drops of Dr Miracles Hair Follicle treatment
  • 3 drops Tea Tree Oil...definitely adding more later
  • 2 Teaspoons of honey
  • And about 2 or so teaspoons of rosemary infused water
Smells delicious and made enough for me to have leftovers for next wash day...of course my hair is only about an inch(if that)

Left that on for about 30 minutes(more like 40....got distracted with the Google) and then shampoo and condition my hair as normal in the shower.

Step Four:  I made a tea rinse....actually I did this prior to step three so it could cool off and steep for about an hour.  Boiled about 4-5 Cups of water and added in 4 tea bags....(did a combo of black and green we'll see the results)  Might need to use less tea but first time is all about experimentation.

So once I've shampooed, conditioned and patted dry(partially dry) I slowly poured the tea rinse through my hair.  One thing I'm definite on, a color applicator bottle is most surely on the soon to buy list.  Pouring free hand causes a bit of a mess and you lose some tea down the drain.

Now this sits for 20 minutes(about the time of a blog post :-) ) and then gets rinsed with lukewarm water.

Mixed up some shea butter, almond oil, coconut oil cream for after

Lets see what happens!
